There is a new and exciting Session Schedule for the 2013 event, with new activities being introduced to the program as well as keeping some old favourites!

Session 1 offers all active participants a scenic 4 hour (10km) Coast Walk with Sydney Coast Walks, the Royal National Park Specialists. Enjoy a pleasant walk through heathland and enjoy great views along the coast out to the Pacific Ocean. Marvel at Eagle Rock and admire Curracurrong Creek and Curra Brook as they fall 50m into the ocean from towering sandstone cliffs.
In the afternoon participants will be able to choose from a number of optional activities to conclude their day including Bocce, Chess, Cards and Trivia or they can choose to join in with other activities that are taking place during the afternoon.
New to Step Out & Get Active for 2013! Bring your thinking caps and join in the event day Trivia. You’ll be able to team up with old friends or take the chance to meet someone new. Participants will then continue their day with the picturesque 2 hour (3km) Coast Walk at Jibbon Headland with Sydney Coast Walks. Discover the traditional country of the Dharawal Aboriginal people. Hear stories of their arrival in Australia 50,000 years before Europeans, taste traditional bush tucker and learn about a bygone way of life as we visit one of Sydney’s biggest Aboriginal rock engraving sites located by the coast.
To finish off the fun filled day, a range of relaxing optional activities are available to participants including Bocce, Chess, Cards, Trivia and massages or they can choose to join in with other activities that are taking place during the afternoon.
Session 3 offers participants a variety of activities that are sure to get your adrenaline pumping. Start the morning with a 2.5 hour walk through the Royal National Park with your Discovery Ranger.. Participants will then enjoy the scenic views that the Royal National Park whilst rowing along the Port Hacking River. To finish the day off let your mind and creativity flow with a Landscape Art lesson along the banks of the Audley Picnic area. Learn how to create texture, contrast & life into your drawings.
Session 4 offers participants the chance to get creative and learn the skills of Landscape Art. Let your imagination connect with the pencil & paper and watch it develop the skills or a true artist, you will then continue to enjoy the serenity with a calming Tai Chi lesson that will relax both the mind and body. Once participants have experienced the tranquility Tai Chi offers they will continue their learning experience on an Aboriginal Culture Walk within the Royal National Park. The afternoon will be spent with a leisurely stroll through the Royal National Park, learning about how Aboriginal people lived with the land. The duration of this walk is approximately 2 hours long and will also contain a Tools and Weapons display with some bush tucker to try along the way.
Session 5 will start with the picturesque photography walk where great snaps of the Royal National Parks flora and maybe even wildlife can be captured from all the right angles. (Please note that you will be required to supply your own camera). New to Step Out & Get Active for 2013! Take part in this exciting new interactive workshop where you will learn Aboriginal dance and enjoy watching an Aboriginal Dance Performance. Step out of your comfort zone and learn how the Indigenous Australians connect with the land though dance. In the afternoon participants will take part in a Guided Bush Walk along Lady Carrington Drive with a Discovery Ranger allowing you to take in the beautiful surroundings that the Royal National Park has to offer.
Participants partaking in session 3 will enjoy a fascinating and informative morning with an easy stroll through the Royal National Park where they will learn about how Aboriginal people lived with the land. The 2.5 hour culture walk will also contain a Tools and Weapons display with some bush tucker to try along the way. Next up on the agenda is a ‘Live Well’ talk and fitness training program aiming to encourage participants to get active and live a happy and healthy life through yoga, fitness/dance, strengthening and a talk.
In session 7 participants will kick their day off with a ‘Live Well’ talk and an interactive fitness training program where they can learn the ins and outs of “living well”. This is a great way to start the day and learn some new ways to really step out & get active through yoga, strengthening and fitness/dance. Up next is the exciting and new interactive workshop where you will learn Aboriginal dance and enjoy watching an Aboriginal Dance Performance. This new activity lets participants step out of their comfort zone and try something new. At the end of the day, participants will be able to choose from a number of optional activities to wind down including Bocce, Chess, Cards, Trivia or they can choose to join in with other activities that are taking place during the afternoon.
Session 8 offers participants the chance to take a scenic bike ride down the Lady Carrington Drive Track amongst the Parks unique flora and fauna. Please note that this is a 2.5 hour ride with the surface being uneven at times and that participants must have some riding experience. After a speedy morning, participants will take part in an arty afternoon with a Landscape Art lesson, learning the tricks of the trade from a trained Artist and then a photography lesson where you can continue to let your mind flow with creativity as you take snap shots of the day.
The day begins with an exhilarating kayak or Canoe along the Hacking River where participants learn kayaking techniques and safety. (Please bring a hat, sunscreen, towel, change of clothes, swimming costumes, sunglasses, water bottle, plastic bag or dry bag and a spray/warm fleece jacket if rain or cold weather is predicted. You should also wear a T-shirt, (either long sleeve or Lycra top, or fleece/wool top on cold days), shorts/bike pants and water-proof sandals or booties). After a splash in the river participants will enjoy an interactive Photography Lesson, capture those perfect moments in the Royal National Park you never thoughts possible. Enjoy the picturesque views of the Flora and possible wildlife that hide within our parks. Complete your day with an optional activity such as Bocce, Chess, Cards, Trivia or choose to join in with other activities that are taking place during the afternoon.
Keep the mind and body healthy by participating in a calming Tai Chi lesson in a tranquil environment that is the Royal National Park. Once the mind and body has been relieved of its stresses, get involved and unleash the inner photographer on a walk along the Port Hacking River. Take shots of the surrounding environment. You might even be lucky to capture some of the hidden Animals that live within the park (Please note that you will be required to supply your own camera). Keep that energy going with a Off-Road Bike Ride along Lady Carrington Drive. Test you peddling skills and enjoy the scenic views as you ride your way through the park. Complete your Step Out & Get Active experience with an action packed afternoon of water sports. These water sport activities include row boating.
